Mr. Pierpont Morgan has secured control of the Equitable Life Assurance Society of New York, with ninety-four millions sterlings’ worth of assets. This is interpreted in Wall Street as foreshadowing a gigantic merger of banking interests. Pierpont Morgan recently purchased a guaranty trust with capital resources of 20 millions sterling. Moderate American newspapers” estimate the resources he now controls at 350 millions sterling.
