CADBURY’S LIBEL ACTION.

■ A FARTHING DAMAGES. United Press Association —Copyright. (Received December 7, 10.10 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 7. The jury awarded Cadburys a farthing damages in their action against the “Standard.” The Judge refused to deprive the plaintiffs of their costs. [Cadbury Bros, sued the “Standard” for an alleged libel contained ,in comments on their delay in ceasing to purchase cocoa from the island of St: Thome, concerning which ! there were shocking revelations of the forcing of negroes to work in the plantations. The ease was evidently' partly political. The “Standard” is a Conservative organ, while the Cadburys are advanced Liberals, and control the ultra Radical “Daily News.”]
