Yesterday fatemoon, in the grounds of the z'esidence of Mrs. ' Harold Kano, Kaiti, a successful garden party was held under the auspices of the St. Andrew’s Ladies’ Guild. .The _ afternoon was arranged as a continuation of the recent garden party, when all the goods were not 'disposed of. Yesterday, the weather being beautifully fine, and the surroundings everything that could toe desired, for a summer afternoon's outL ing, drew a large attendance, and when, not busily engaged buying from the miscellaneous articles in the one large stall, the visitors enjoyed themselves by playing “clock” golf and croquet. Miss Williams, of Ashburton, who contributed several songs during the afternoon, did much to. add to the enjoyment of those present. : ; The management of- the stall was Undertaken by Mesdames Tattersfield and Blair and Misses Witty and Good, and the. refreshment tent was under the control of Mesdames Church and Gordon and Miss Skillicorji. The business done was extremely good, and although all-tlie articles were not disposed of, between £7 and £8 was realised, bringing the total of the two undertakings up to nearly £7O. To Mr and Mrs Kane for the use or the grounds and for all. the- work they did to make the function successful are due the .thanks of the Ladies’ Guild, and these the members wish to express.
