PATHE PICTURES.

The change of programme submitted fit His Majesty’s Theatre last evening went far to enhance the popularity or the Pathe Picture management, and to make good their promise to the public that tlie new pictures would be something a good deal beyond the ordinary. Tlie audience last night were more than delighted at the excellence of the fare provided, and spontaneous outbursts of applause were frequent as fresh beauties and wonders were disclosed in rapid succession. Chief interest centred in the film depicting.the great week of aviation at Rheinis, which gave those present a realistic idea of what the mode of transit of the future will be like. The aeroplanes of the world’s most famous aviators were shown in tlie various competitions, navigating tho air as easily as if they wore motor-cars on terra finna. lhe contest for the Gordon-Bennett Cup was graphically, pourtrayed, showing the machines of-Messrs'Lefebvre, Bleriot, Latham, and Paulhait clipping the clouds at racing speed. President Fallieres’ visit to the aviators made a picture of fine effect. , The flights oT the big airships" Colonel Kenai'd and Zodiac were .almost, awe, lnr spiring, and hearty applause greet id the feat of the latter when she ascended and soared over tlie Tribunes. Pauiban, and Latham’s record flights \Vere shown, and Farman’s famous record for distance and duration. The sight presented bv these huge bat-like- machines flying through space is a truly magnificent one.' and must be seen to lie appreciated. Another fine film was that of tlie “Review of the Lancashire Territorials at Knowslcy by His Majesty tho King,” a magnificent spectacle being presented by the march past. “Oid ’Sweethearts of Aline” was an illusory picture in smoke, which for perfect beauty in coloring could not be surpassed. “Druidic Remains in Bnttainv” gave a succession of surpassingly beautiful scenes of these giganticmonoliths which have stood for centuries against the ravages of time. Prince Foote’s victory in the last Alclbourno Cup made a fine picture, which riveted the attention of the audience from the arrival of the Governor-General to tho weighing-in of the jockeys. Among the other, fine films displayed in this excellent bill-of-fare were "me Man with the Dolls,” “Kenilworth," “The Refuse of Paris,” “Tho Heart of Gavroclie,” while the humorous element was well supplied by “Back, Back,” “Professor Puddenhcad’s Patents,” “Hard Luck/’ and "Kate’s Birthday.” . The incidental music was ogam a feature. of tho ; performance. This programme can only he presented again this evoning, as tho theatre is otherwise engaged to-morrow night, and a. change of programme is billed for Saturday. Those .who fail to see this exceptionally fine series trill have missed an undoubted treat.
