An unusual charge, viz., placing a loaded revolver in a railway carriage, was preferred in the S.M. Court, Wellington, the other morning. Defendant had been a passenger by tine Manavvatu train from Palmerston North to Wellington. By a stroke of .misfortune he had left his overcoat in the carriage, and in one of the pockets oj. the garment was discovered a leaded revolver.: The magistrate remarked upon defendant’s carelessness, and inflicted a fine of 20s, with costs 15s.
