The construction of the large viaduct at the top of the Waikoliu Valley, on the railway extension works, will be commenced shortly. An idea of the magnitude of tlie structure may be gained from the fact that each of eight steel girders forwarded the other day, weighs six tons. The contract time for the completion of the new High School building in Stanley Road, js February 28. Owing to tlie bad weather recently there has been some delay in the operations, land possibly 'the building may not be finished in time. In the event of it being much later the first term may be commenced in the present premises.
