GISBORNE CLUB.
The green of the--Gisborne Bowling Club was very keen on Saturday afternoon, and the number of members who mustered thereon was large enough for play to be carried on at four nnks. The -results of the principal games -were as follows: — „ A« Murray Dodd, Johnstone. Corson ’(skip) 23 beat Taylor, Colebroolc, Ambridge, W. Pettie (s'kip) 22 ' Lewis, Pavitt, Mackintosh, Ponstord (skip) 30 beat Brown, Wootton. Witty, Bright (skip) 18. Play in this game was extended to thirty heads, f Oh the twenty-first scores were equal—l 7 all. In the remaining heads Bright’s rink “went to pieces” in inexplicable fashion. only gathering in a single, while Ponsford increased his score - by 13 points.. * ' ... „ ■ ■ The draw for the third round of the Chib’s Handicap Singles was posted up on Saturday, as follows:—Johnstone (7) v. Eure (2), Witty (5) v. Zachariah (9), Wootton (6) v. Benzie (4), Kyme (5) v. Ambridge (4), Simson (1) v. Robertson (3). The play in this / round must be completed by January 3rd. V • Play in the first round of the -Handicap Pairs must also be finished by January 3rd. ... ,
Messrs Simson, T. A. Crawford, and Ponsford Have been appointed eldps for 'the three finks which are to play against the Turauganui Club on the occasion of the opening of the Gisborne Club’s new pavilion on Thursday, next; Mr. Si'mson’s rink will bo constituted. as follows : Kyme, F. W. Nettie, Coleman, Simson (skip). The other skips have, not., yet selected xtHeTi- rlnirs. • Given -fine the function, of the opening of the .pavilion will bo a most - enjoyable one. On Saturday the Turangahui green was jn excellent order, and ran very keen, a number of practice games being played. " • -—Handicap Pairs.— V. Hooper and J. P. Williams (skip) (1 point) 26 beat C. Morse and A. Sawyer (skip) (scratch) s.—The game was altogether in the former pair’s favor. Williams especially playing well. Their score included a five. Sawyer and his partner only scored <sn four heads., and threw up the sponge on the 19th head. This was the. first game in the second round of the competition. —Bennett Cup.— The followiiffr is the position of the various players at the conclusion of the fifth week’s play:—B.
