NORTHERN WIAIAPU SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A meeting or the Northern Waiapu Settlers’ Association was held in To Araroa recently. Owing to the bail weather, and bad state of the roads, several members were unavoidably absent. Those present were Messrs Henderson, Beckett, Metcalfe, Reid, Hawkins, Hansen, Ngatai, Tait, and Heald. In the absence of the chairman, Mr. Henderson was voted to the chair. Correspondence from Mr. W. D. S. MacDonald,-M.P., re Beere’s road and Native lands petition, and from Hon. R. McKenzie re Beere’s road, was read and received. It was resolved that Mr. W. D. S. MacDonald, M.P., be thanked for his prompt attention to the interests of the 'Association, and requested to give his continued attention to the matter of Beere’s road, and also to keep in view this Association’s petition in regard to the urgency of having an Appeal Court set up, which, ■as reported in “Hansard,” -was promised by the Native Minister. It was also decided that, owing to the occupation of the Whangaparoa and Waikura blocks, to which there is no access, not even a survey made, Mr. MacDonald be urged to represent the necessity of opening roads connecting Te Araroa with the blocks adjacent, and Hicks Bay with Cape Runaway, as a-matter of the greatest expediency, and that Mr. MacDonald also be asked to approach the Minister of Marine asking that Hicks Bay be surveyed and gazetted as a harbor. It was also resolved that the secretary should write to Mr. C. A. deLautoiir, thanking him for his kindness in drawing up the petition ter the House. Accounts totalling £1 18s were passed for payment. .
