PRUSSIC ACID THE CAUSE

[Per Puehs Association. | AUCKLAND, Dec. 15

An analysis of the stomach of Henry Miller, who died in the police cells a fortnight ago, after he was arrested on a charge of theft, showed the presence of prussic acid. The police were unable to ascertain where this was purchased. A verdict of suicide was returned.

FOUND DROWNED

NAPIER, Dec. 15. The dead body of a man named John Weir, a laborer, lately employed in scrub cutting at Tutira, was found in the river at Potane to-day. Some clothing and a swag were seen on the hank by passers-by, and this led to a search being made by a policeman, with the above result. The deceased was last seen alive on Tuesday, when he was walking towards Napier. A FALL FROM A GIG.

PAHIATUA, Dec. 15. A man named Crease,, ,traveller for Ballinger Bros., of Wellington, was thrown out of a gig this morning, sustaining concussion of the brain, the base of the skull being fractured. He was taken to the hospital. This afternoon it was reported that there is little hope of his recovery. He has a wife and family in Wellington.
