CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS. Post Office.—Saturdays, the 22nd December and Ist January (Christinas Day and New Year’s Day) will be observed as close holidays. On Monday, the 27th inst (for Boxing Day) the office will be open in all branches, except money order and savings tank, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Receivers and posting boxes will be cleared on the evenings of Fridays, the 24th and 31st inst. Mails usually despatched on Saturdays will be closed on the Friday nights, the. 24th and 31st inst., at 7.30 p.m. On the 27th inst. the usual despatch of mails up to 8 a.m. will be made. Receivers and posting boxes cleared accordingly. A delivery will be made by letter carriers on the afternoons of the 24th and 31st inst. On the 27th inst. one complete delivery ; '-v letter will be made, leaving the office at 7.30 aim. On Friday evenings the 24th and 31st inst., a delivery of town letters will be made between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. over the counter, and at parcels delivery wicket. Telegraph Office.—The following hours will be observed on Saturday (Christmas Day): 9.30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 5 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. On Monday (for Boxing Day) .and Saturday (New Year’s Day), 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. to midnight. Telephone Exchange.—Hours as usual —viz., 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Mails for East Coast ports,per Flora will close to-day at 1 p.m., instead of 8.30 a.m.' as at first announced. Money orders for places he vend New Zealand close' 1 hour 30 minutes before 1m closing of the ordinary mail. In regard to places within the colony, money orders and registered letters close 1 hour, and parcel post parcels 30 minutes before the ordinary mail. W. H. RENNER, Chief Postmaster
