(Received December 16, 9.5 aon.) - MELBOURNE, Dec. 16. , Sir G. H. Reid’s appointment is for five years at a salary, and expenses of £SOO per annum.' : SYDNEY, Dec. 16. The appointment of Sir Geo. Reia.as High Commissioner of Australia is eulogised by the Sydney press. ' The “Telegraph” says: “The Commonwealth has secured as its representative one of the most brilliant men trained in its political service.” The “Herald” says : . “Both as a business man and as a diplomatist Sir George is the most excellent choice that could be made.”
