CANTERBURY PILGRIMS’
ANNIVERSARY
CHRISTCHURCH. Dec. 16. The 59th anniversary of the landing of the Canterbury pilgrims by the first four ships was celebrated to-day as a general holiday. The weather was fine but a strong nor’-wester was .blowing. A gathering of the surviving pilgrims took place in the afternoon at the residence of Mr. John Anderson, when no fewer ‘ than 69 of those who arrived m Christchurch, by the first four ships were present. Reminiscences were exchanged, and the function was most interesting.
