Suddenly he said, “Doctor, I am choking.” Morphia was injected, but the King died almost immediately. The heir presumptive, Prince Albert, a nephew of the dead King, arrived shortly, afterwards, and reverently kissed the dead monarch. Baroness Vaughan’ s presence at the bedside angered the Belgians. When the priest, who was administering extreme -unction, was questioned regarding a morganatic marriage, he admitted that King Leopold’s position was en regie (as it should be) with the church in liis closing moments. Princess Stephanie and ' Clementine were admitted to the death chamber.
A MORGANATIC MARRIAGE. (Received December 19, 5.5 p..m.) ROME, Dec. 18. - The Pope states that a religious marriage between King Leopold and Baroness Vaughan was celebrated at San Remo last year. BRUSSELS; Dec. 18. Only the doctors and the nursing nuns were present at the King’s death, which was very sudden. King Leopold’s funeral is to take yplace on Wednesday. ■King Albert will be sworn in on Thursday. The British Court has gone into mourning for 12 days.

' A flag flying half-mast on the postoffice for King Leopold’s death moused a protest here. The following telegram was sent to the Premier: “Number of Feeding business men protest against post office flying flag for Leopold. Can it come down?”
