ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
KILLED BY A FALL OF CLAY.
CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 2. Geo. Cousins, aged 40 years, _ a laborer, married, employed at Cooksley s brickworks. Opawa, met with a ratal accident whilst undermining, a facing at clav, which collapsed, partially burying him. He was immediately extricated, but succumbed half an hour after from internal injuries. FOUND DEAD IN BED. „ ; v ASHBURTON, Dec. 22. James Hartigan, an elderly man, a farm laborer, was found dead in bed in a whare occupied by him at Trevorton this morning. The body was in an advanced state; of decomposition. He was last seen alive on Sunday. He has •T sister (Mrs. J. Hyland) residing at Cave.'. THROWN FROM TRAP. J DUNEDIN, Dec. 22.! Mrs. Mary McKendry, aged 44, was injured- internally on Monday, at Highcliffe, . through a trap capsizing. She was removed t?> y the hospital, where she died this morning. ; DEATH FROM HEART DISEASE. GORE, Dec .22. John Morrison, farm laborer, aged 60 years, died when at work near Riverdale last evening. Heart: disease- was the cause.
