MATAWHERO STOCK SALES. There was not a good attendance at the fortnightly sale at Matawhero yards yesterday, and the yarding in both sheep and cattle classes was small. Bidding in the early part of the sale was very slack, and a great many lots had to be pascsed in. After lunch, when the major portion of the cattle was disposed of, bidding brightened up, and business was fairly brisk. : v ... SHEEP. 1,500 sheep were yarded. At first bids were hard to get, and many pens were passed in. Prices were not up to those of last sale. The following sales took iliac©: —84 wethers 11s, 20 ewes 9s, 2o ewes 8s 6d, 56 fat wethers 11s, 43 forward wethers 9s 6d, 64 early shorn ewes 3s 3d, 51 forward lambs 6s 6d, 84 ewes with 64 lambs at foot 11s, 25 ewes 8s 9d, 28 young ewes 8s Id, 133 4-tooth wethers 10s sd, 91 mixedage ewes '9st 4d, 56 4 and 6-tooth wethers 10s, 56 wethers 9s 9d. CATTLE. About 320 head of cattle yvas yarded. In the early stage of the sale a good many lots failed to realise satisfactory proces, and were withdrawn, but later bids got brisker and better prices were realised. A nice line of 23 cows with 12 calves was withdrawn at £2 7s 6d, and 20 fine bullocks were passed in at £4 ss, and 11 heifers and one steer were withdrawn at 355. The following prices were realised:—l fat. cow £2 12s 6d, 12 steers £2 12s, 4 steers 375, 7 heifers £2, 7 calves 21s, 1 cow close to profit £3 15, 1 Jersey heifer 355, 2 fourteenmonth heifers 345, 26 cows with equal number of calves at foot' £3 17s, 1 cow close to profit £3 17s 6d, I cow in milk £6 2s 6d. 9 steers £4 17s, 4 steers £4 Is, 1 steer £4 17s 6d, 6 heifers £2 16s, 3 bullocks £5 7s, 4 young steers £2 16s, 3 steers £3 ss, 3 empty cows £1 10s, 2 cows with calves £3, 2 cows and calves £3, 2 cows and calves £4. PIGS. Onlv a small number of pige were yarded and the following prices were realised:—3 at 15s, 4 at 30s, and 1 gow 255.

A young beordie sheep dog put up brought 22s 6d.
