SINKS THE STEAMER ARCADIAN, United I’hkbh Association— GoriruiaUf (Received January 3, 9.5 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 3. During a dense fog yesterday the Ellerman liner Arcadian, bound from London to Glasgow and Basra, collided with the Houlder liner Ayrshire, ri-om Manchester to Durban and Australia, off Tuscar Rock, Ireland. The Arcadia foundered in three minutes. Of her crew of 52 Lascars, 12 who went below to secure their money perished. The remainder were picked up by the Ayrshire. The latter received a crashing blow forward. She commenced to fill, and was towed with 200 passengers to a liai’bor of refuge at Holyhead, nhoie she was safely beached. The passengers behaved well, and there was no panic. The Ayrshire’s number one hold was flooded.
