ENTERTAINMENTS.
RATHE PICTURES. His Majesty’s Theatre was again well filled last evening to witness the last presentation of the current programme of the Pathe Pictures. Applause was frequent throughout the evening, and the many fine films comprising the present series mot with the hearty approval of the audience. To-night an entire change of pictures will be given. “Nero, or the Fall of Rome” is the star attraction, and the length of the film being considerably over 1500 feet gives ample scope for some first-class scenes, the last of which, depicting the burning of Rome with all its palatial buildings and edifices, is said to baffle description. Rome, the once glorious city, is reduced to a heap of ashes in full view of the audience. A good subject, of an industrial character, is “The Wedgewood Industry.” Another film of note is a pictorial adaptation of Charles Dickens’ great work “Oliver: Twist.” Other interesting subjects to be shown include “Views of Paris from a height of 2,600 feet,” “Picturesque Corsica,” and “Honor of the Slums.” The comics arc “Paul’s Party.” “Charley’s Ma-in-Law,” “House Cleaning Days,” “Paper Cockadoodles” and “Oh! That Beard.” POLLARD’S MERRY MIDGET COMPANY. On Wednesday next, at Hi s Majesty’s Theatre, Pollard’s Merry Midget Company will appear in their many and attractive roles. This company will present excerpts from comic opera, pantomime, and the vaudeville stage, also several perfectly arranged and •gorgeously costumed ballets. An inter, esting feature of the performance is tlie “Wonderscope,” which combines the wonders of the cinematograph with the action of the living Midgets on the stage. The company will conclude their entertainment with a brilliantly staged production m two acts and a tableau, “The Death of Nelson,” set in an effective scene from the brush of Mr Ricketts, of Sydney. The management have decided to charge popular prices. The box plan is now open at Mr. Miller’s.
