DROWNING FATALITY AT AUCKLAND. , fpEii Eiiksw Association.l AUCKLAND, Jan. 8. A waterside worker, Thomas Solomon married, aged about. 40 years, was work, ing on the Monowai, when ho fell backwards overboard, striking his head on a sugar barge moored alongside. After dragging for about twenty minutes, the body was found. Attempts at resuscit. ation were unavailing. WOMAN FOUND DROWNED. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 8. Sabina Murphy, an aged woman, well known to the police, was found drowned in a small creek in South. Hagley Park this- afternoon. Apparently ’she fell into the creek when crossing the park. At the inquest evidence was given to the effect that the deceased was about 50' years of age, and had a long list of convictions for ’vagrancy and drunkenness. She was last seen alive on Friday night. A verdict of found drowned in a ditch in the South Park was returned. A SUDDEN END. DUNEDIN, Jan. 8. Robert Flamwell Bare, aged 67, an old age pensioner, living with his son-in-law. at South Dunedin, was found dead in bed this morning. The supposed cause of the death is heart failure. FATAL FIT OF VOMITING. Austin Parker, another old age pensioner, formerly a watchmaker, was found dead at the Glasgow restaurant, where he lived. Ho had evidently been attacked with a. fit of vomiting, and collapsed, before lie retired to bed. OLD WOMAN FOUND DEAD. Margaret Cotterell, aged 60, was found dead in. the Botanical Gardens this morning. She hail just been discharged from gaol, having been convicted of drunkenness.
