Mrs. Harriman, widow of the railway magnate, has given 10,000 acres for a public park for New York, with £20,000 sterling for its upkeep. Other millionaires in the State of New York have raised a further £BOO,OOO to make the park the finest in the world, and extend it 50 miles along the banks of the Hudson River.
