GISBORNE CLUB.

Notwithstanding the absence of several of the principal players at V ellington, there was a considerable muster of bowlers on the green of the Gisborne Club on Saturday, and some enjoyable play took place. The following were the results of the principal Sa Gosndl, Paltridge, Bright (Skip) 24, beat Brown, Benzie, Williams (skip) 1/. Pawitt and F. Harris 28, beat Wootton and Ambridge 19.

THE WELLINGTON TOURNAMENT

(Special to.“ Times.”) WELLINGTON, Jan. 8. ? The Northern Bowling Association s tournament, which commences on Monday. is expected to prove the biggest bowling tournament ever held m New Zealand. Three days will be occupied with the qualifying rounds in the rmlc matches, and on Thursday the pairs

matches wnll be played. There were to have been five rounds in the latter competition, hut the Council of the Now Zealand Bowling Association- decided to strike the sth. round put. This was to avoid running the preliminaries into another day. - In section H on the Wellington green Nasmith’s pair meet King’s (Stratford) in the first round, versus Wilson (Carlton) in the second, Tait in the third, and Lomax in the fourth. In section B on the Hutt green Ponsford’s pair plays Ffrost in .the first round, Fletcher in tlie second, McCorrery in the third and Wylie (Petone) in the fourth. On the same green Witty’s pair plays in section S, Bell’s pair, McIntosh, Smith (Kelburne) and Badley. On Victoria green in section N, 1 Martin’s pair meets Leech, Perrett, Hewatt, and Crowley. On Newtown ground Robertson and partner play in section L, Dimock, Pascoe {Grey Lynn) Keen and Dubley. This afternoon both Gisborne rinks put in good practice. The weather promises to be fine.
