THE WEATHER

Idle following is the Rev. D. C. Bates’ summary and forecast: A high pressure has prevailed, but the barometer has fallen slowly during the past fortv-eiglit hours. Light easterly winds and cloudy and showery weather have prevailed in the north. Elsewhere the winds have been light and variable, with changeable weather and showers in many parts, particularly Taranaki. Present indications are for warm and hazy weather. On the West Coast and southern districts of the South Island and about East Cape, freshening, northerly winds are probable and a falling barometer everywhere.
