A SAD SUICIDE
rpim Puf.bb Association.! AUCKLAND, Jan. 10. A single woman named Emily Maria Pugwell, residing in Eden Vale Road, Eden Terrace, committed suicide this afternoon by taking carbolic acid. She arrived recently from England, and in reply to an advertisement lent a man £IOO. Tho man in question, on receiving this, it is stated, left the country, and this fact seemed to have preyed on Miss Pugwell’s mind. She was fifty years of age. She loft a pathetic note. HUNG BY THE NECK. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 10. Stephen Hobbard, a. farmer, of Southbridge, was found hanging by the neck, dead, in a stable this morning.
