AUCKLAND WOOL SALES. ri’KR Ekkhs Association.! AUCKLAND, Jan. 12. The second wool sales of the season opened this morning, 6293 bales being catalogued. There/ was an attendance of fifteen buyers. The wool was of poorer a'l round quality than at the JNo. vember sale, being mostly back-coun-try clips. Notwithstanding this prices showed an advance on November rates, equal to Ad lb for ordinary clean crossbred, one penny for bushy wools, and one penny to twopence for locks and pieces. The top price was 12Ad for crossbred, merino ewes 12-fd, and crossbred hoggets llAd, lambs’ wool 10;]d. NEW SEASON’S GRAIN. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 12. The steady advance in tlie prices of wheat recorded on tlie English market lias been followed with interest by local holders of this cereal, and they art by no means disposed to relax their ideas'of values. Merchants are practically inactive, awaiting the placing of the new season’s grain on the market, but there has been fairly steady milling business transacted. The demand for coastal shipments continues intermittent, and old stocks have now been reduced to very narrow compass. Business in oats is still confined to a few parcels) of last season’s, but it is expected farmers’ offerings will shortly be in large supply. HOME MARKETS. United Pitusa Association—Coi'YiumiT LONDON, Jan. 10. The Bradford wool market is excited. Crossbred, firm trade; merinos, 40’s t ] 4 J cl; 46’s, 17d; super futures, unchanged. Danish butter is easier, at 120 i to 121 s per cwt. Colonial is firm, despite the arrival of nearly 100,00 boxes. There is good inquiry at late rates. Secondary Australian is scarce, and very firm, at 104 s. Choicest New Zealand, 110 s to 112 s.

Cheese is firmer. New Zealand, 55s to 66s cwt.: Queensland, 53s to 545.
