The Government is providing assistance to the impecunious Anglo-Indians induced to come to the State by Capt. "Holden. At the same time it was advised that the Immigration League had taken immediate steps to prevent further shipments, considering that Capt. Holden’s action in sending unsuitable persons deserves severe censure.

THE PORT OF SYDNEY

The tonnage of vessels which arrived at Sydney last year was 7,504,345, an increase of 210,722 compared with the previous year.
