THE GISBORNE PLAYERS. (Special to “Times.”) WELLINGTON, Jan. 14. All' interest in the tournament as far as the Gisborneites were concerned evaporated when the Hon. J. A. Milliar and Dali (skip) stopped .the victorious career of Sawyer and Nasmith in the pairs this afternoon. The green was like glass, and absolutely the fastest ever played on, as both players and lookers-on admitted. Dali put up a five on the first head, and soon had a commanding lead of 15 to 4. Nothing daunted, the Gisborne pair slowly reduced the igap, 'Sawyer doing splendid drawing and Nasmith upsetting his opponents frequently with some deadly driving, but Dali proved too superb in drawing, and at the finish won by about eleven points. A great game was that witnessed m the play-off of the section between Churchward (Wellington) and Ivilgour (Carlton), the former winning by one point. To-morrow should see the completion of the tournament.
