THE NGATAPA ESTATE.
SUB-DIVISION AND VALUATION APPROVED BY LAND BOARD.
A considerable portion of the time of the Hawke’s Bay Land Board avas occupied yesterday in examining plans of the scheme of subdivision of the Ngatapa estate of 10,697 acres, recently purchased by the Government from Mr Sydney Williamson for closer .settlement.' After carefully going -over the plans, the scheme of subdivieion and the valuations were approved by the Board. The ballot is expected to he opened on the -14th of March, and the two following days will be occupied in examining the bona fides of applicants. Twenty-six sections will be available for selection, varying from two, four, or five-acre sections up to a pastoral run' of 842 acres. There should be a keen demand for these holdings, as the estate comprises fertile flats and well-grassed hills, and is well roaded and watered throughout. There is certain to he keen competition for the homestead site of 768 acres, including a fine residence and outbuildings. Along the hack Motu road the estate has been subdivided into dairy farms, with a nice proportion of flat and hill country, while the country along the Wharekopae road is more suited to sheepfarming. Near the homestead a couple of stock reserves and school and creamery sites have been set apart. The only drawback about the estate, which lends itself admirably to subdivision, is the presence of a block of Native land, Okahautiu, which is situated in the centre of the property. Ngatapa is only 17 miles from Gisborne, and: a good metalled road runs almost the whole way.
