A LORD BURNT OUT. United Phkbs Association—Copyright. LONDON, Jan. 17. Lord Derwent’s residence at Scarborough has been burned. There was now a genuine revival in the home markets. JEWS RETURNING TO PALESTINE. There has been a great incursion of Jews into Palestine since the new constitution has been operative in Turkey. The .Jewish population in ‘Jerusalem has increased by many thousands. Tens of thousands have settled on Jaffa, Tiberias, Safed, and Mount Carmel. Thousands are flocking from Persia and Russia. A Jewish capitalist is buying land in Jordan Valley, recently the property of the ex-Sultan, Abdul Hamil. A POPULAR WIN. When the Rev. Silvester C. Horne entered the .pulpit at Whitehelds Tabernace. the congregation cheered and waved their hats and handkerchiefs. The Rev. Silvester C. Home was one of the Liberal candidates elected for Ipswich, the other successful candidate being Sir D. F. Goddard, who was reelected. Mr Horne is one of the ablest of Congregational ministers. He has charge of the Whitefields Central mission. in Tottenham road, which he has made a centre for spiritual and social work. THE CZARINA’S HEALTH. ST. PETERSBURG, Jan. 17. Specialists in nervous diseases are consulting regarding the Czarina’s condition. THE AYRSHIRE DOCKED. (Receiveu January 19, 12.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 18. The Underwriters’ Association is advised that the steamer Ayrshire has been floated into a Liverpool dock for repairs.
