OFFERS OF SPECIAL PRIZES

Mr E. Short, tbe well-known Romney breeder, of Waituna, has offered rhe Manawatu Agricultural and Pastoral Association a cash prize of £IOO to be competed for at the spring show for the best purebred Romney ram shown on the ground bred in New Zealand, to be shown in the wool, and to be judged accordingly. Then to be blade-shorn and judged after shearing for symmetry, the judging to be on points. Sheep thus shorn for the special prize not to be debarred fi'om competing in other classes, two judges to be selected by the Romney Breeders’ Association, one from the South Island, another judge to be selected by Mr Short, who has appointed Mr Alex. Mc-Gregpr, or Waira rapa. Mr Short will not himself enter for the competition. The offer was accepted with thanks. The Association has also decided to offer special prizes of £10? each for champion bull in the Holstein, Ayrshire and Jersey dairy cattle classes.
