THE WAIROA RACES. [Pun PitEBB Association.! WAIROA, Jan. 18. There was a. good l attendance at the annual race meeting of the Wairoa County Racing Club to-day. The weather was fine in the morning. In the afternoon heavy rain fell, but afterwards cleared off. The following were the results of the racing:— Maiden Plate, about 7 furlongs.— Sleacombe 1, Pumoana 2, Merrie Lawn 3. Won. by a length. Tynron Hack Handicap, 6 furlongs.— Mayflower 1. Goldfield 2, Lady Crispin 3. Mother Goose also started. Maiden Scurry, half-mile.—Magneta 1, Miss Pigeon 2, Ramnira 3. Eight started. Telephone Hack Handicap, 5 furlongs.—Donzel 1, Hapuka 2, The Chef 3. Scratched: Fiddler. Frasertown Hack Handicap, 6 furlongs. —Mayflower 1, All Trumps 2. The only starters. Welter Hack Handicap, one mile.— All Trumps 1, Anchor Bead 2, Donald 3. Mother Goose and To Whero also started. Stewards’ Hack Handicap, 7 furlongs.—Rose Lethe, Centaur 2, Master Stead 3.
