THE WAIROA RACES. [Pun PitEBB Association.! WAIROA, Jan. 18. There was a. good l attendance at the annual race meeting of the Wairoa County Racing Club to-day. The weather was fine in the morning. In the afternoon heavy rain fell, but afterwards cleared off. The following were the results of the racing:— Maiden Plate, about 7 furlongs.— Sleacombe 1, Pumoana 2, Merrie Lawn 3. Won. by a length. Tynron Hack Handicap, 6 furlongs.— Mayflower 1. Goldfield 2, Lady Crispin 3. Mother Goose also started. Maiden Scurry, half-mile.—Magneta 1, Miss Pigeon 2, Ramnira 3. Eight started. Telephone Hack Handicap, 5 furlongs.—Donzel 1, Hapuka 2, The Chef 3. Scratched: Fiddler. Frasertown Hack Handicap, 6 furlongs. —Mayflower 1, All Trumps 2. The only starters.
