TRADE SUFFERS AT NEWCASTLE

The number affected by the Jason trouble is only about 150 men, who Avere under the impression that the Ilaroo’s coal Avas obtained by nonunion labor. [A former telegram stated that about 300 Avliarf laborers refused to alloAV the steamer Jason to be hunkered from the collier Illaroo.]
The steamers Moresby and Maallin-a are to be recommissioned for the Island service. Sufficient coal has been obtained to permit them to resume running. The coal exported from Newcastle last year was 1,443,000 tons less than in the previous year. General trade has also been badly affected by the strike, the revenue collected at the Customs House showing .a falling off of £14,932.
