NO-LICENSE LEAGUE.
G INNER A L AIEETING.
A well-attended meeting of the Gisborne No-License League was held last evening in St. Andrew’s Schoolroom. All . A. Graham presided. It was decided to appoint Mr. J. Aucurin Jones as organiser for the district. Air. Jones, who is at present a. resident ol Masterton, has had considerable experience in political organisation and temperance work in AY ales, and has been very highly recommended. He is expected to arrive in Gisborne on February 2nd, and is to be welcomed by the League at a social in St. Andrew’s schoolroom on February 3rd.
The League has decided to hold a No- . License Convention in Gisborne early in March. The Rev. J. Dawson, secretary of the New Zealand Alliance, is expected to be present on the occasion. The following resolution was passed on the motion of tho Rev. J. A. Lochore —“That, while not lessening its efforts to destroy the licensed trade in alcoholic liquors, this League determines to engage more* fully in the work of rescuing and reforming the victims of the drink traffic.”
A committee was appointed t<o prepare a scheme for carrying out the object of the resolution.
