A BOOST FOR HASTINGS.
GETS TWO STOREY POST OFFICE AND PREMIER’S PRAISE. rPEit Puicbs Association.| HASTINGS, Jan. 25. The Premier yesterday afternoon opened the new post office at'Hastings, which is a brick building two storeys high. There was a large attendance of residents of town and district. Sir Joseph Ward, in the course of _a speech, said that Hastings was among the districts which had, from a post and telegraph point of view, advanced very rapidly, and this was in fact without check for a long period of years. The development of the telephone in Hastings was, he believed, unparalleled in Now Zealand, and he was pleased at the opportunity of opening this new building to provide Hastings with absolutely the most modern equipment in the world.
