rPim Puess Association.l WELLINGTON, Jan. 25. The General Synod of the Church of the Province of New Zealand 1 was resumed to-day. A Bill to amend; Title F, of the Canon, clause 10, was. read a first time. The object of it primarily is to permit of native representation on the Porirna trust. L An alteration of the method of nomination to parishes is proposed in a Bill read a first time on the motion of Archdeacon D. C. Harper. A request that £l5O bo granted for the General Church Trust towards the erection of a new cathedral in Dunedin was referred to the Committee on Trusts and Finances-
The proposed alteration in the conditions of the sale of section 38, Wailienga. Martin bo rough, and a request that the proceeds be devoted to the purchase of land without the restriction that- it adjoins the church site, were referred to the Committee on Trusts.
The Committee on Trusts recommended that the Diocesan Board of Trustees for the Wellington diocese be authorised to sell' section 16', Creswick, at the first opportunity, and; to hand tlie net proceeds thereof to the trustees of St. : Anne’s Church, Northland, towards the liquidation of the mortgage at present on St. A-nne’s Church. Consideration was deferred tilT to-morrow. The Bishops of the province were empowered’ to appoint a member of the Central Consultation Committee of the Lambeth Conference, to hold office for a period' not exceeding three years.
BOARD OF THEOLOGICAL STUDIES. The hill of Archdeacon Williams to amend Title E, canon 1, to provide for the better working of the Board of Theological Studies, was read a second time, and put through its committee stages, with slight modification. The clause relating to the constitution of the Board was amended to make the bishops ex officio members, while the election of members was vested in the General Synod after nomination by the Sessional Committee. The bill was reported, the third reading being set down for Monday next. PAROCHIAL MEETINGS. Mr. F. F. Martin moved the second reading of the Bill to amend Title B, canon 5, clause 7, relating to meetings of parishioners or vestries. The debate had not concluded when the Synod adjourned until 2.30 pan. to-morrow.
