GISBORNE CLUB. Yesterday afternoon two match games were played on the Gisborne Club’s green. In the second round of the Handicap Pairs Burton (sub.) and Benzie (7) beat Seymour (sub.) and Ambridge (5) bv 22 to 14. During the first half of the game play was very even, the score being 10 all on the eleventh head. Ambridge got in a single on the twelfth, but on the next head Benzie got in four, and followed up with three on the fourteenth, thus making his.total 17. In the remaining heads Benzie put on five and Ambridge three, the former thus winning by eight points. The second round of this competition must be finished this afternoon. In the Colts’. Singles, Hoff defeated PsSley by 36 to 8. The following teanisi Will represent the Club in the match With the Turanganui Club. to-morrow afternoon:—W. Pettie. Smith, Craig, Simson (skip); Corson, Ambridge, Eure, ,T. A. Crawford (skip): Robertson, Hennessy or Wootton, Colemau, Ponsford (skip). TURANGANUI CLUB. At the Turanganui Club’s green yesterday afternoon the final in the Handicap Pairs and a. game in the Bennett Cup competition were played. The results were —Bennett Cup.— M. G. Nasmith, junr., 22 beat C. J. Bennett 17. —On the sth head Bennett led by 6 to 4, but Nasmith, securing the jack, altered the heads, with the result that Bennett was unable to score on eight heads, while Nasmith ran up fourteen, the 13th head showing: Nasmith 20, Bennett 6. On the remaining heads Bennett pulled up a lot of leewav but suffered defeat by five points. —Handicap Pairs. — R. T.helwall and J. J. Martin (skip) Gcr) 24 beat V. Hooper and J. P. Williams (skip) (1 point) 21.—0 n the 2nd head Martin and his partner put up a five, giving them a lead. They increased their advantage, but Williams and his mate made a good recovery at the_ finish. The latter, however, suffered defeat by three- points. Thelwall and Martin thus, win the bowls presented hv Why te,. .Mackay and Co. (per Messrs Parker and Sheridan), and Mr. P. Hallam. The teams to represent the Club in the match with the Gisborne Club tomorrow are 1 to be picked this afternoon.
