POVERTY BAY CLUB. The weekly meeting of the committee of the Poverty Bay Rowing Club was held in the club’s shed last evening. Messrs W. Fraser, J. McConnell, and S. Ledger were appointed handicappers for the Grieve medal . races, which are to be rowed off on February, : Ist. „ , , ' Additional crews were allowed to. enter for the above races as follows: J. McLeod were appointed a Visiting Committee for the ensuing w'eek. » A special meeting of the committee will be held at the shed this evening at 5 o’clock. GISBORNE CLUB. The contest for the Schumacher Cup in the A grade was continued last night, when a further heat ivas rowed. Somervell, Wheeler, Donald, and L. Bright beat E. Traill, Butler. Busby, and Lovett rather comfortably by a little over a length. The semi-final race in grade trial fours was also rowed, when Payne. Clarkson, Reddell, and Murray met Mulvihill, G. Pollock, Dawson, and Cogar. The former crew led all the way, and won easily by a couple of lengths. The races this evening will be as follows: A Grade semi-finals, Hansen v. F. Traill, Bayl.y v. Somervell. In the final for the B grade, Payne, Clarkson, Reddell, and Murray meet Gallop, Rutherford, J. Pollock, and Wyllie. CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA. TPeii Puesb Association.! PICTON, Jan. 25. The championship regatta, postponed from yesterday owing to the rough water, was continued this morning in the presence of a good attendance of the public. The senior fours was to. have been rowed about 8 o’clock, but the sea being on the rough side it was ■decided to row the race later in the day. * The champion single sculls was the first race.rowed, the. result being: Stone (St. George) 1. Westray (Waitemata) 2, Brown (Napier) 3. Three others started. It wa s a good race, won by a' little over a -length. Time, 9min 41sec. The champion fours, rowed on _ a splendid' course, was won by Union < Wanganui) by ten lengths. A great race for' second money took place, Blenheim gaining the verdict by a

couple of lengths. Time, 11 min 12sec, a record for the race. Picton was fourth.
