The New Alpine .mine manager reports as follows: “The crosscut in No. 7 was extended a further distance of 20 feet for the week, making a total footage south from the Princess crosscut of 41 feet. The ground came in very hard during the week, but there is a decided improvement in the lay of the country, and it looks much more promising for the reef than it did last week.” At a special meeting of shareholders held yesterday the following motion was agreed to—“ That the capital of the company be increased .from £25,000 to £35,000 by the creation of 20,000 new shares at 10s each, and that the directors be, and they are hereby, authorised to allow such shares to such persons and on such terms as they think fit.”
