RIFLE SHOOTING.
HAWKE’S BAY RIFLE ASSOCIATION. [Pun Press Association.! NAPIER, Jan. 27. The second annual shoot of the Hawke’s Bay Rifle Association for the Collins Shield and other competitions for money prizes, took (place at Boy’s Hill, near Hastings, to-day. There was an entry of eighty competitors. The light was good, and the wind increased slightly as the day wore on. The Collins Shield, seven shots at 209, 500, and 600 yards, was won by the Opaki Rifle Club, with a score of 476 points. Other scores were: Napier Rifles 472, Napier Guards 465, Ohura Rifle Club 451, Dannevirke Rifles 450, Ranfurly Rifles 449, .Hawke’s Bay Mounted Rifles 440, Taradale Rifle Club 435.
The following are the leading .scores in the Hastings. match, seven shots at 200, 500, and 600 yards: —-Sergt. James (Napier), £2 10s, 99; Color-Sergeant Grindell (Napier), £2, 96; Trooper G. Tong (Hastings), £1 10s, So; Lieut. Neilson (Dannevirke), £l, 95; Sergt. Humphreys (Hastings), £l, 95; Rifleman W. G. Franklin (Weber), £l, 94; Rifleman J. Jarvis (Taradale), £l, 94; Rifleman L. Loveday (Ohura), 10s, 94. The shooting will he continued tomorrow.
