EXAMINATIONS IN ENGLAND

(Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Jan. 29. The November examiners’ committee recommended that steps be taken by the University office to secure greater accuracy and. fuller information in the cables announcing the results of held in England, and than Ime Chancellor, Professor J. Macmillan Brown, and Air. Hogben btrequested to inquire, into the possibility of reducing the time between the degree examinations and the issue to candidates of results, and generally to consider the feasibility of placing the system on a more satisfactory basis. The report was! adopted. The medical travelling scholarship was conferred upon Michael Herbert Watt.

The proposals to establish a Chair of Domestic Science led to considerable discussion and some strong opposition. Eventually it was decided to incorporate the course with that for the B.Sc. degree. BACHELOR OF AGRICULTURE DEGREE. The University Senate to-dav received a report on behalf of the‘Agricultural Committee, containing recommendations with a view to encouraging students to enter into a course of agriculture, and making the degree of Bachelor of Agriculture more popular than at. r>resent. The recommendations were adopted, and referred to the Statutes Committee. The Finance Committee reported that during the pastyear the revenue had increased bv £404 and the. expenditure £364. The expenditure, which required to be most closely watched was that on examinations, but the increase in this item was more than counterbalanced bv increased examination fees. On Mr. Allen’s motion, the report was adopted, with the recommendation that ten junior scholarships should be awarded in 1910.
