GISBORNE. The following was the amount of Customs duties collected at the local Custom-house for the month of January:—Spirits £1079,5s lOd. cigarettes and cigars £IS9 5s Sd. tobacco £513 Os 6d, wine £73 18s lid, beer £7, goods by weight £133 Ss 7d. ad valorem £725 Os 6d, other duties £56 16s, surtax £59 6s sd; total, £2866 12s sd. AUCKLAND. [Per Press Association*. 1 AUCKLAND. Jan. 31. The Auckland Customs returns for January are £51,193, compared with £51,584 last year. INVERCARGILL. INVERCARGILL, Jan. 31. The total amount of revenue collected by the Customs here- for January (inclusive of £173 3s 4d surtax) was £8162 Is 2d, an increase of £2274 over January last- year. The amount of beer duty collected during the month .represented anj increase of 2372 gallons in the consumption of locally made beer.
