TROUBLE IN THE SYDNEY MINT.
MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE OF GOLD. United Press Association —Copyright SYDNEY, Jan. 31. (Received February 1, 12.55 a.m.)
A parcel of gold mysteriously disappeared from the Mint a few days ago. Finger-prints of the staff were taken, and it is alleged that an officer has been dismissed through this system of investigation. The authorities are extremely reticent, but it is believed that the amount is not large. The Mint authorities refuse information, and added that inquirers would have to go to London to get it.
