ACTION BY THE GOVERNMENT

[Per Press Association.! NELSON, Feb. 3, The Hon. Thos. Mackenzie, Minister of Agriculture, left for the W-ost Coast to-day. While in the Nelson district Mr Mackenzie inspected several orchards in the Riwaka and Motueka districts. When interviewed by the fruitgrowers at Motueka to-day, he announced that arrangements had been made for Mr. Hallam, orchard inspector, to proceed to Tasmania to collect information re shipping fruit to England. On his return he would superintend the packing and grading of a shipment of 60,000 oases from Nelson, the Government guaranteeing the growers Id a pound.
