United Press Association —Copyright

(Received February 4, 1.10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 3

Advices have been received that the Pacific Cable Board has secured control, from the Canadian-Pacific railway, of the .telegraph line from Montreal to Bamfield. The negotiations were necessitated by the frequent failures of the Canadian lines. The Board will lease the line for five year s at an annual rental of £55,000.

Negotiations for a State-owned cable across the Atlantic arc not yet completed, but before long it is anticipated this will be accomplished, completing the through line, from Queensland to London.
