Lord Middleton presided over an important conference of breeding societies and liorse-owners, at which a resolution was carried in favor of earmarking for national defence and advocating State subsidies. An influential committee of members of the House of Lords and of the House of Commons and others was elected. Earl Errol said that France spent £30,000 annually in encouraging horsebreeding, and Britain only a beggerly £SOOO.
