GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE -FOR SUFFERERS.
United Press Association —Copyright PARIS, Feb. 7-. The French Government has decided to provide small tradesmen and owners of land and houses affected by the floods with credit to enable them to Start afresh.
A SAD FATALITY. A woman and young girl returned to an abandoned house at Alfortville. It immediately collapsed. The woman was killed, but the girl was rescued.
A SUGGESTED PREVENTIVE
MEASURE
(Received February 8. 9.30 p.m.) PARIS, Feb. 8.
Among the suggested preventives of floods at Paris is an overflow canal from St. Maur across the St. Denis plain.
A FURTHER GRANT TO FLOOD SUFFERERS.
The French Government asks Parliament for a further sum of £BOO,OOO to compensate the flood sufferers.
THE SEINE AGAIN RISING?
After falling fourteen feet, the Seine is again showing a tendency to rise owing to mild weather melting the snows.
