PATHE PICTURES
His Majesty's Theatre was packed last evening, when the new programme of the Pathe Pictures was shown for the first and only time. The engine had been fixed, and the pictures were shown clearly. The programme was an exceptionally fine one, and the pictures were of such a varied nature that they appealed to all tastes. The picture descriptive of “Logging in Italy,” representing the timber logs being rafted down the river, was an exceptionally fine film, the scenery showing the grandeur of the Italian mountains being magnificent. Other good scenic studies were “Pompeii, the Dead City, as it is To-day” and “Bear Hunting in Russia.” “The Mended Lute” was a powerful'dramatic story of Indian life, introducing an exciting canoe hunt. The acting of the principles was highly realistic. Another good dramatic picture was “An Army of Two,” an incident of the American Civil War, where two girls, trained by an old soldier, are instrumental in defeating an opposing force. Other good pictures were “The Inn of Death.” “Noel, a Waif’s Christmas,” and “Wanted, a Child”; whilo the comics wore quite up to the best vet shown here. Tomorrow evening an entire change of programme is announced, and on Thursday and Friday, race nights, a special programme will be given.
