Whooping cough is very prominent in and around Dunedin, and since, by a curious oversight (says the “Star”), it is not one of those infectious diseases which have to be reported to the Health Office, it has more chances of spreading to the dimensions of an epidemic than have other zymotic diseases. In view of the re-opening of the State schools. Dr. Ogston. sent out notices to the' headmasters not to admit children which have been infected, without a certificate that the danger is past.
