'ARRIVAL OF THE ' AUSTRALIAN TEAM. [Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Fob. 9. The Australian cricketers arrived, from Sydney by tli© Moeraki to-day, and were met by officials. An official reception took place this evening. PERSONNEL OF THE TEAM.
Since the Australian team was first selected C. E. Simpson has been included in place of S. Hill, and T. Warn© in place of E. F. Waddy. The party now comprises: —W. W. Armstrong (captain), D. Smith, T. S. Warn© (of VictoriaL, W. Eardsley, C. E. Simpson, O. Kolia way, S. H. Emery, A. J. Hopkins. and C. R. Gorry (of New South Wales), E. R. Mayno and W. J. Whitty (of South Australia), and N. .Dodds and A. 0. Facy (of Tasmania). On tour the selection committee will he W. W .Armstrong, E. R. Mayne, and A. O. Mackenzie (manager). Tile “Sydney Referee” remarks: — “Tf the places given to A. J. Hopkins and 11.l 1 . S. Warnc wore filled by younger players like- W. J. Scott or E. T. Delves o r J. Scott, or one of the younger batsmen, it would be better for cricket, though on the -score of ability there can be no objection to the inclusion of the pair mentioned. It isi four years since* the last team from this side (the Melbourne O.C. team) toured New Zealand. Of the present party W. W. Armstrong alone was in that team, and on that occasion li© was a giant with bat and ball as well as in physique.”
THE PROGRAMME. The following is the complete programme of the tour of the' Australian team in New Zealand :
February 9—Arrive Wellington. Team will stay at Grand Hotel. February 11, 12, and 14—Australia v. Wellington, at Wellington. February’ 15—Leave for Auckland by train at 12.15 p.m. February 16 —Arrive Auckland 7 a.m. Team will stay at Central Hotel. February 18, 19, and 21—Australia v.
Auckland, at Auckland. February 22 —Leave for Christchurch
by train at 9.15 p.m. February 23—Arrive Wellington 4.7 p.m., thence by steamer S p.m. February 24—Arrive Christchurch 9 a.m. Team will stay at Warner’s Hotel. February 25, 26, and 28—Australia v. Canterbury, at Christchurch. March 2—Leave for Dunedin by train 11.55 a.m., arriving at 9.15 p.m. Team will stav at Grand Hotel.
March 5,7, and S —Australia v. Otago, at Dunedin. March 9 —Leave for Christchurch by train 11.15 a.m., arriving 7.27 p.m. Team will stay at Warner’s Hotel. March 11, 12 and 14—Australia v. New Zealand, first test match, at Christchurch. March 15—Leave for Palmerston North at 7.30 p.m. March 16—Arrive Wellington about 6.30 a.m., and proceed by train to Palmerston North at 9.10 a.m., ar-
riving 1 p.m., commence match at 2.30 p.m. March 17—Australia r. Manawatu, at Palmerston. March IS —Leave for Wanganui 7.10 a.m., arriving 11.30 a.m., commence match at- 2 p.m. March 19 —Australia v. Wanganui. March 21 —Leave for New Plymouth at 4.9 p.m., arriving 9.20 p.m. March 22 and 23—Australia v. Taranaki. March 24—Leave for 7.10 a.m., arriving 5.15'p- m - Team will stay at Grand Hotel. March 26, 28, and 29—Australia v. Now Zealand, second test match, at Wellington. March 31—Leave for Napier by train at 10.50 a.m., arriving 9.20 p.m. April 1,2, and 4—Australia v. Hawke’s Bay, at Napier. April s—Leave for Wellington at 730 a.m., arriving 5.15 p.m. April B—Leave8 —Leave for Sydney.
