GISBORNE CLUB.

The semi-final in the racesi for the Post and Telegraph trophy’ took place last evening, when Dawson and’ Dalgety beat Mulviliil-1 and Winter rather easily, and Gallop and Reddell beat Payne and deLautour by about three feet after a very exciting race. In the Muir Cup races. Hansen beat Curtis by r about a length, and Somervell, Tocker, Busby, and Scott beat P. Hamilton, Grenfell, McConville, and Quigley by about three-quarters of a length.. The. finals in both these races take place this evening.

LICENSED VICTUALLERS’ SHIELD. At a committee meeting in connection with the Licensed Victuallers! Shield, a set of rules governing, the contest was drawn up. It was decided to allow the Wairoa and Uawa clubs to compete, and that each club should have two delegates to act on the management committee. These rules will come up for confirmation next week.

A BLENHEIM CREW FOR HOBART.

BLENHEIM, Feb. 9. The Blenheim Roving Club’s senior crew left to-day for Wellington, en route for Hobart, where they intend competing in the inter-State fouroared race. The expenses of the crew are being defrayed by the public of Blenheim.

INVERCARGILL REGATTA

INVERCARGILL, Feb. 9

The Invercargill regatta was held today in moderately good weather. The interprovincial race for the Edmond Shield was won by Basstian’s (Southland) crew, J. Smith (Otago) Oamaru, being second.
