The Hon. T. Mackenzie does not think that the recent disaster to the Waikare will prohibit any more excursions being made to the West Coast Sounds. Speaking at Richmond (Nelson), he said that all that was necessary was a little more surveying. Many of the rocks that had been referred to, had been known for many years, and' the sounds, speaking generally, were to a large extent, free from rocks or obstruction of any sort. The Minister added that he had in mind the inauguration of an excursion trip to the Marlborough Sounds and Nelson, similar to tho ones that had been instituted in the South.
