A SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION

DANNEVIRKE, FeO 11. The first show of the newly-formed j Dannevirke District Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held to-day. and attracted a large attendance of about 5000 of the public. The Domain proved an ideal ground, and for the first attempt the arrangements were quite satisfactory. The weather was exceedingly hot. The competition list filled remarkably well, and provided a good afternoon's sport. The championships were awarded as follows: — Ayrshire cow, C. AA’oodly (Palmerston North); Jersey cow and hull, AAL H. Booth (Carterton): Holstein hull, N. Nikolaison (Ormondville) ; Romney ram, R. H. Buick (Al’asterton); Lincoln ram, R. McDonald (AA’aitehora): Lincoln ewe. H. Gaisford (Oringi); Border Leicester ram, R. 11. Blythe (AYaitehora) ; Southdown ram, B. Bright (Dannevirke). Other prizes wore:—Maiden hunters. Airs. Redpath's Bill ; best lady driver. Aliss Alason : pony jumping, Morrisoiv's AA'ee AlcGregor ; ladies’ limiter. C. Hart's Playboy (Aliss AlacDersey); hunters’ competition '(open), Hassell and Troutheck’s Fiji ; best weightcarrying hack, J. S. Nelson’s Dick :
high-weight hack, H. AI. Campbell’s AA’haiapo.
